Granary Burying Ground

Established in 1660, the Granary Burying Ground is one of Boston's oldest colonial-era cemeteries and contains the graves of notable Revolutionary-era figures including John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and Paul Revere. The burial ground occupies a parcel on Tremont Street adjacent to Boston Common and King's Chapel and has been preserved as a historic site within the Beacon Hill/Downtown neighborhood. It is maintained as a public historic property and is a frequent stop on Freedom Trail tours.
