U.S. Capitol used for House of Cards exteriors

Netflix's TV series House of Cards filmed exterior scenes on the grounds and steps of the United States Capitol, using the building for many establishing shots of the fictional Capitol. Production crews obtained permits from the Architect of the Capitol and U.S. Capitol Police for on‑site filming. Capitol officials limited access to many interior spaces, so most of the show's interior White House and congressional scenes were shot on sets elsewhere.
