Moulin Rouge Hotel and the 1960 desegregation agreement

The Moulin Rouge Hotel & Casino opened in 1955 at 900 W Bonanza Rd as one of the first major integrated hotels and casinos in Las Vegas. In 1960 the 'Moulin Rouge Agreement'-a meeting and accord among civil-rights leaders and casino owners-played a documented role in advancing desegregation of Las Vegas gaming and hospitality workplaces and venues. The hotel's opening, the 1960 agreement, and later closures and redevelopment efforts are all part of the property's recorded history.
