Benjamin T. Powell House

The Benjamin T. Powell House, located at 305 California Avenue in Camden, Arkansas, is a historic two-story wood-frame house built in 1859. It is one of the few pre-Civil War cotton-magnate houses still standing in the city. The house features a cypress frame and a Classical Revival facade, characterized by a front gable supported by four round columns and porches adorned with ornamental iron railings. Notably, it served as a military headquarters for Union Army forces during the Civil War and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history.
