Madam Walker Legacy Center - historic Black cultural institution

The Madam Walker Legacy Center occupies the Walker Building, constructed in 1927 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Madam C. J. Walker’s company as a theater and community space. It has long been a focal point for African American cultural life in Indianapolis, hosting performances, meetings, and educational programs. The center was restored and continues to present concerts, theatrical productions, and community events that celebrate local Black history and arts.
