Capitol Columns at the U.S. National Arboretum

A freestanding row of Corinthian columns from the original East Portico of the United States Capitol stands on a mound at the U.S. National Arboretum as preserved architectural remnants. The group of columns was removed from the Capitol and re-erected on Arboretum grounds where they function as an outdoor monument and focal point in the landscape. The site is publicly accessible and frequently cited as an example of architectural 'ruins' repurposed as garden sculpture.
