O. Henry House Museum

The O. Henry House at 409 East 5th Street is the preserved residence where short story writer William Sidney Porter (pen name O. Henry) lived in the early 1890s. The building was converted into a house museum and tourist site that interprets Porter's life and local Austin history. The museum has operated on and off since the 1930s and is a noted historic site in downtown Austin. It is run by a nonprofit organization and offers guided tours to the public.
