Panama Hotel (Japanese American history)

The Panama Hotel opened in 1910 in Seattle's International District and is a designated historic landmark. Its basement contains a preserved collection of belongings deposited by Japanese American residents who were forcibly removed and interned during World War II; the collection is documented and interpreted by the hotel and historians. The building continues to operate as a hotel and tea house and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
