Jerry Nichols Tavern

The Jerry Nichols Tavern is a historic house located in Reading, Massachusetts, notable for its 2+1⁄2-storey wood-frame structure built in 1785 by Revolutionary War veteran Jeremiah Nichols. This site served as a training ground for Reading's minute companies before the American Revolutionary War and housed the local powder magazine. Expanded between 1810 and 1813, it transitioned into a tavern and stagecoach stop by 1830. The property remained in the Sanborn family until the 1940s and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in American history.
