Eastern Market (Capitol Hill)

Eastern Market, located on Capitol Hill, first opened in 1873 and the existing brick building dates from that era. It functions as a daily indoor public market and a popular weekend farmers/flea market drawing local vendors and shoppers. A major fire in 2007 caused extensive damage; the market building was restored and reopened to the public in 2009.
