Slaven's Cabin

Slaven's Cabin, also known as Slaven's Roadhouse, is a historic public-use facility located in the scenic Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve in Alaska. Situated along the Yukon River, it is 42 miles southeast of Circle and 138 miles northeast of Fairbanks. Built in 1932 by miner Frank Slaven and his friends, the cabin served as a roadhouse until the 1950s and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The two-story structure, made from hewn spruce logs, features a rich history tied to the Coal Creek Historic Mining District. Restored in 1993, it now serves as a visitor contact area and includes a public-use cabin. Additionally, it is recognized as an official 'dog drop' on the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race route, making it a unique stop for both tourists and researchers interested in Alaska's mining history and outdoor adventures.
