Salk Institute for Biological Studies

Designed by architect Louis Kahn and completed in 1965, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies is a renowned example of modernist architecture. It was founded by Jonas Salk to provide a research center for biomedical studies and remains an active research institute. The campus is noted for its symmetric concrete and teak structures arranged around a central courtyard with a linear water feature overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
