Ikulu

Ikulu, the official residence of the president of Tanzania, is a historical building located in Dar es Salaam. Founded in 1865 by Majid bin Said of Zanzibar, this architectural marvel showcases a blend of African and Arabian styles, featuring wide verandahs and covered walkways. The striking white-walled structure is set within 33 acres of lush grounds, offering stunning views of the Indian Ocean and the city. Notable features include brass-studded doors adorned with the Republic's Coat of Arms and two male lion statues that greet visitors. The interior is decorated with gifts from state visitors, including an Ethiopian shield and a representation of the coat-of-arms of Tanganyika, adding to its rich historical significance.
