Bartram’s Garden river outlook

Bartram’s Garden, established by John Bartram in 1728 and designated a National Historic Landmark, sits on the west bank of the Schuylkill River and provides a relatively secluded riverside vantage of the waterway and distant Center City skyline. The site’s historic botanical plantings and riverfront paths create layered sightlines that are less visited than waterfront parks to the north. The property is the oldest surviving botanic garden in North America and is interpreted by a visitor center and guided programs.
