Imambara Zadibal

Imambara Zadibal, also known as Imambara Qadeem, is a historic Husayniyya located in the Zadibal area of Srinagar, Kashmir, India. Constructed in 1518 CE by Kaji Chak, it is one of the oldest and most significant religious sites for Shia Muslims in the region. The Imambara serves as a central hub for mourning observances during Muharram, accommodating over 32,000 visitors, especially during major religious events. Architecturally, it showcases a blend of Persian influence and traditional Kashmiri styles, featuring a central dome, slender minarets, and intricately decorated interiors. Despite facing multiple instances of destruction, it has been fully rebuilt and remains a focal point for the Shia community in Kashmir, particularly during the mourning period that culminates in the observance of Ashura.
