Tabby Manse

Tabby Manse, also known as Thomas Fuller House, is a historic residence located in Beaufort, South Carolina, built around 1786. Notable for its unique tabby construction-walls made from oyster shells and lime-this house showcases classical architectural proportions and has been preserved as one of the few remaining early American homes of its kind. Originally a wedding gift from planter Thomas Fuller to his bride, Elizabeth Middleton, the house has a rich history, including its use during the Civil War and its transformation into a guest house for nearly a century.
