Green Pastures is a historic Victorian home and restaurant located in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood of south Austin, Texas. Built in 1895 by minister E.W. Herndon, this charming venue spans 23 acres and has served various families over the years. The restaurant, established in 1946, is renowned for its comfort food and was a pioneer in desegregation, welcoming customers of all races long before it was mandated by law. The site, which features beautiful peafowl, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and has connections to notable figures, including activist John Henry Faulk.
