The Sphere (Fritz Koenig) relocated to Liberty Park

Fritz Koenig's bronze sculpture The Sphere originally stood in the plaza of the World Trade Center and was heavily damaged but survived the September 11, 2001 attacks. After years in temporary locations, it was reinstalled in Liberty Park adjacent to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in 2017, where its damaged surface remains visible. The sculpture is treated as both a work of art and a recovered artifact from the World Trade Center site.
