Electric Cinema, York

The Electric Cinema, located on Fossgate in York, England, holds the distinction of being the city's first purpose-built cinema, constructed in 1911. This Grade II listed building showcases a blend of historical architecture, including a medieval boundary wall from the York Carmelite Friary and a striking façade adorned with glazed tiles and faience. After its closure in 1957 and a brief period as a furniture shop, the cinema was transformed into the Cosy Club restaurant and bar in 2017.
