Pomaria (Summer–Huggins House)

Pomaria, also known as the Summer–Huggins House, is a historic plantation house located in Newberry County, South Carolina, built around 1825. This two-story frame dwelling showcases Greek Revival and Federal architectural styles, highlighted by a striking two-story portico. The property also includes a log smokehouse, a board and batten privy, and a Carpenter Gothic post office, which was the first post office in the Dutch Fork area. Notably, Pomaria Nurseries were established on the plantation in 1840. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Southern history and architecture.
