Lutherhaus Eisenach

Lutherhaus Eisenach, one of the oldest half-timbered houses in Thuringia, is a significant site in the history of the Reformation. It is believed that Martin Luther lived there with the Cotta family during his school years from 1498 to 1501. The house has been a cultural history museum since 1956 and was designated a 'European cultural heritage site' in 2011. Visitors can explore Luther's early life in Eisenach, his time at Wartburg Castle where he translated the New Testament into German, and the architectural history of this remarkable building, which dates back to 1269.
