Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo (Mission San José)

Established in 1720 and with its church largely completed by the 1760s, Mission San José is often called the "Queen of the Missions" for its size and elaborate stonework. The mission church is noted for its carved limestone Rose Window, a distinctive architectural and artistic feature that survives from the Spanish colonial period. Mission San José is part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and remains one of the best-preserved mission complexes in the city.
