Bush Family Home State Historic Site

The Bush Family Home State Historic Site in Midland, Texas, is a historic house that served as the childhood residence of former U.S. Presidents George W. Bush and George H. W. Bush from 1951 to 1955. Built in 1939, the home was purchased by the Bush family for $9,000 and spans 1,400 square feet. It is notable for being the earliest childhood home of Governor Jeb Bush as well. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 and transformed into a museum, which opened on April 11, 2006. In 2023, the house was transferred to the Texas Historical Commission, making it a significant destination for tourists and researchers interested in presidential history.
