The Parthenon (Centennial Exposition replica)

The Parthenon in Centennial Park was originally constructed as a full-scale temporary replica of the Athenian Parthenon for the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition. The structure was later rebuilt in permanent materials in the early 20th century. It houses an art museum and a 42-foot statue of Athena by sculptor Alan LeQuire, installed in 1990.
