Boeckman Bridge

Boeckman Bridge was a historic suspension bridge located over Big Tavern Creek near St. Elizabeth, Missouri. Built in 1926, this 240-foot long bridge featured a unique design with wire cables and timber, suspended 29 feet above the creek. It was named after Joseph Boeckman, who donated the land for its construction, and was supervised by local engineer Joseph A. Dice. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, making it the only property in Miller County to receive this designation. Although it originally supported vehicle traffic, it was later restricted to lighter loads and eventually delisted in 1993 due to deterioration. The bridge was demolished in 2002 and replaced with a concrete structure, marking the end of its historical significance.
