International Savings & Exchange Bank Building

The International Savings & Exchange Bank Building, constructed in 1907 in Downtown Los Angeles, is a historic ten-story structure designed in Renaissance Revival and Italianate styles by architect H. Alban Reaves. Located at the corner of Temple and Spring Streets, it served as the International Savings & Exchange Bank, popular among the city's foreign-born residents, before becoming the City Health Building. The building gained fame as the 'Bolton Building' in the 1923 film 'Safety Last!', where it was depicted as a site of comedic stunts. Although it was overshadowed by the new Los Angeles City Hall in 1928 and eventually demolished in 1954, its legacy endures in film history and architectural significance.
