Metrohan Building

The Metrohan Building, located in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, is a historic 7-story office structure completed in 1914, originally serving as the headquarters for the Tünel funicular railway. The ground floor houses the Beyoğlu Tünel station, the northern terminus of the iconic 573 m long funicular. This building, named after the railway, has a rich history dating back to the 1870s, with its original station structure opening in 1875. Designed by architect Mikayel Nurican, the building underwent expansions in the late 1920s and has been a significant landmark in Istanbul. Currently, it is being restored by the municipal government to transform it into a public exhibition space and library, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers.
