Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G St NW is the central branch of the DC Public Library, designed by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and opened in 1972. It underwent a multi-year renovation that began in 2017 and reopened in 2020 with restoration of original design elements and new public program and research spaces. The library houses central collections, archives, and hosts public events and exhibitions related to the District's history and culture.
