The Sands Hotel (former Strip landmark)

The Sands Hotel opened in 1952 on the Las Vegas Strip and became famous for its Copa Room showroom and Rat Pack-era performances. The Sands was a focal point of mid-20th century Las Vegas nightlife and hospitality before it was closed and demolished in 1996 to make way for The Venetian resort. Its legacy remains central to accounts of the Strip's development during the 1950s–1960s entertainment boom.
