John W. Mumma Native Aquatic Species Restoration Facility

Located in Alamosa, Colorado, the John W. Mumma Native Aquatic Species Restoration Facility is a unique cold water fish production facility dedicated to the conservation of rare native aquatic species. Inaugurated in 2000, it is the first state facility in the U.S. built exclusively for native species, focusing on captive propagation, genetic conservation, and public education. The facility rears 12 fish species and one amphibian, including several that are endangered or threatened, such as the bonytail chub and Rio Grande sucker.
