Gundeldingen Castle

Gundeldingen Castle, located in the Gundeldingen neighborhood of Basel, Switzerland, is a significant Swiss heritage site. Originally part of a group of four castles, only two remain today. The Inner Castle, built in the 16th century, served as a manor for wealthy merchants and is known for its distinctive red paint. The Lower Middle Castle, dating back to around 1400, has a rich history of ownership and was renovated in the 20th century to house offices. The Upper Middle Castle, the oldest of the group, was demolished in the 19th century, while the Outer Castle was transformed into a shelter before being demolished in the mid-20th century. As of 2024, the castle is owned by the Canpasoglou de Fürstenberg family, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
