The Portland Building (postmodern civic landmark)

The Portland Building, designed by Michael Graves and completed in 1982, is widely cited as one of the first major postmodern civic buildings in the United States. Its colorful facade, decorative motifs, and sculptural elements marked a deliberate break from late-modernist government architecture. The building underwent a major seismic and restoration renovation from 2015 to 2018 and continues to house Portland municipal offices.
