Edward J. Berwind House

The Edward J. Berwind House is a historic mansion located at 2 East 64th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, designed by Nathan Clark Mellen and featuring opulent interiors by Jules Allard and sculptor Louis Ardisson. Built in 1886 for coal baron Edward J. Berwind, the mansion is renowned for its grand interiors, rivaling those of the New York Public Library. After serving as the headquarters for the Institute of Aeronautical Sciences and the American Heart Association, it was converted back to residential use in 1978.
