Locories currently use embedded images rather than direct user uploads.

Why embedded images are used today

Embedded images make it possible to show visual context for a place without requiring the platform to manage full image uploads from users yet.

They simplify the current submission flow.
They reduce the amount of file handling the platform has to manage.
They keep moderation, storage, and delivery requirements smaller while the map continues to grow.

What this means for users

Right now, images attached to Locories are limited to embedded sources. That means the platform does not yet support a full workflow for uploading and hosting your own image files directly.

What may change in the future

In the future, users will be able to upload their own images directly to Locories. That would make it easier to contribute original photos and give places richer visual detail without depending only on embedded content.
